Location & Landscape
Duba Plains Camp is located within a remote private reserve in the northern Okavango Delta, surrounded by seasonal floodplains, palm-dotted islands, open grasslands, and winding water channels. The landscape constantly shifts with the Delta’s annual floodwaters, creating a mosaic of wetlands and dry islands that support extraordinary concentrations of wildlife. The camp overlooks open plains where herds of buffalo and elephants are frequently seen moving through the floodplains.
Wildlife Experience
The concession is particularly famous for its large buffalo herds and the lion prides that hunt them, creating some of Botswana’s most iconic predator interactions. Elephants, leopards, wild dogs, giraffe, hippos, crocodiles, antelope, and abundant birdlife are also regularly encountered throughout the reserve. The combination of private guiding, low vehicle density, and diverse habitats allows for highly immersive and flexible safari experiences both on land and water.
Accommodation
The camp features a small collection of spacious luxury tented suites and an exclusive-use private residence, all positioned privately within the floodplain landscape. Accommodations include large verandas, private plunge pools, elegant bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, lounge areas, and uninterrupted views across the Delta. The suites combine classic safari romance with contemporary luxury and personalized service.
Design & Atmosphere
Duba Plains Camp blends vintage safari elegance with rich textures, handcrafted furnishings, campaign-style décor, and contemporary comforts. Canvas, wood, leather, copper, and natural fabrics create interiors that feel sophisticated yet deeply connected to the surrounding wilderness. The atmosphere is intimate, refined, and highly personalized, with a strong emphasis on exceptional guiding, cuisine, and hospitality.
Activities & Experiences
Guests can enjoy morning and evening game drives, mokoro excursions, boating safaris depending on water levels, guided walking safaris, birdwatching, photography experiences, fishing, and scenic helicopter flights over the Delta. The private concession allows for off-road driving and flexible safari activities that create rewarding wildlife encounters throughout the year.
Access
Duba Plains Camp is accessed via light-aircraft flight from Maun to a nearby airstrip, followed by a short game drive transfer through the concession. The flight over the Okavango Delta’s channels, islands, and floodplains offers a spectacular introduction to one of Africa’s most remarkable safari regions.
