Location & Landscape
Zuri Zanzibar is located on Kendwa Beach along Zanzibar’s northwestern coast, surrounded by white sand, turquoise water, tropical gardens, and mature palm trees. Unlike many beaches on the island, Kendwa is largely unaffected by the tides, allowing guests to swim throughout the day. Its west-facing position also provides beautiful sunsets over the Indian Ocean.
Wildlife Experience
While not a safari property, Zuri provides access to Zanzibar’s diverse marine environment. Snorkeling and diving excursions offer opportunities to see colorful tropical fish, coral reefs, sea turtles, and dolphins. Birdwatching, forest walks, and visits to nearby marine areas can also be arranged, allowing guests to explore the island’s coastal wildlife and natural landscapes.
Accommodation
The resort features 56 bungalows, suites, and villas hidden among extensive tropical gardens. All accommodations include spacious terraces and outdoor showers, with contemporary interiors enhanced by locally crafted furniture and African artwork. Suites feature separate living areas and private Jacuzzis, while the larger oceanfront villas offer multiple bedrooms, generous indoor and outdoor spaces, private beach areas, and, in the three-bedroom villa, a private swimming pool.
Design & Atmosphere
Zuri Zanzibar combines contemporary architecture with African and Zanzibari influences, using natural materials, local craftsmanship, woven textures, and open indoor-outdoor spaces. The lush landscaping creates privacy between accommodations and gives the resort the feeling of a tropical village. The atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated, balancing peaceful seclusion with inviting restaurants, bars, and social spaces.
Activities & Experiences
Guests can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, paddleboarding, dhow cruises, yoga, meditation, spa treatments, and the resort’s outdoor fitness area. Cooking classes, spice-garden tours, local workshops, live music, and beach activities are also offered. Excursions may include Stone Town, spice farms, Jozani Forest, local villages, dolphin watching, and marine adventures.
Access
The resort is reached by private road transfer from Zanzibar International Airport or Stone Town, approximately 50 kilometers away. The journey generally takes around 90 minutes, passing through local villages and the island’s tropical countryside before arriving at Kendwa Beach.
