Amankora is Aman’s collection of five luxury lodges located throughout Bhutan, designed to provide a seamless journey through the kingdom’s most important cultural, historical, and natural landscapes. Rather than focusing on a single destination, the concept encourages guests to travel between valleys, experiencing the remarkable diversity of Bhutan while enjoying the consistency of Aman’s understated luxury, exceptional service, and tranquil atmosphere. Each lodge is relatively intimate in scale and has been carefully designed to reflect the character of its surroundings, creating a strong sense of place while maintaining a cohesive experience across the country.
Amankora Paro
Located in a quiet pine forest overlooking the Paro Valley, Amankora Paro serves as the gateway to most journeys through Bhutan. The lodge is ideally positioned for exploring some of the country's most iconic landmarks, including Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the National Museum, and the historic Paro Dzong. Its peaceful woodland setting and proximity to Bhutan's international airport make it both convenient and highly scenic.
Amankora Thimphu
Set within a tranquil blue pine forest above Bhutan’s capital, Amankora Thimphu offers a calm retreat while remaining close to the cultural and administrative heart of the country. Guests can easily explore Thimphu’s monasteries, museums, artisan workshops, and markets before returning to the privacy and serenity of the lodge. The property combines access to Bhutan’s contemporary life with the quiet atmosphere for which Aman is known.
Amankora Punakha
Located in the warmer Punakha Valley, Amankora Punakha occupies a beautiful setting surrounded by rice terraces and fruit orchards. The region is known for its fertile landscapes, mild climate, and important cultural sites, including the magnificent Punakha Dzong. The lodge offers a relaxed atmosphere and serves as an excellent base for hiking, cycling, village visits, and exploring one of Bhutan’s most picturesque valleys.
Amankora Gangtey
Situated in the Phobjikha Valley, Amankora Gangtey overlooks one of Bhutan’s most beautiful glacial valleys. The area is famous for its wide-open landscapes, traditional farming communities, and as the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes that migrate from Tibet each year. The lodge offers a peaceful setting with opportunities for scenic walks, cultural exploration, and wildlife observation.
Amankora Bumthang
Nestled within Bhutan’s spiritual heartland, Amankora Bumthang provides access to a region rich in monasteries, sacred sites, and traditional villages. Bumthang is often considered the cultural and religious center of Bhutan, with a landscape of forested hills, fertile valleys, and ancient temples. The lodge offers an immersive experience focused on Bhutanese history, spirituality, and rural life, making it one of the most rewarding destinations in the Amankora journey.
