Lolebezi

Lower Zambezi
Opened in 2022 by African Bush Camps, the lodge combines striking architecture, riverfront scenery, and highly personalized safari experiences with a strong focus on sustainability and Zambian craftsmanship.

Location & Landscape
Lolebezi is set along a secluded stretch of the Zambezi River within Lower Zambezi National Park, surrounded by winterthorn forests, open floodplains, and river channels rich with wildlife. The lodge overlooks the river toward the escarpment of Zimbabwe, with hippos, elephants, and crocodiles frequently visible from the suites and main lodge areas. The setting feels remote yet elegant, combining dramatic river scenery with the quiet atmosphere of the Lower Zambezi wilderness.

Wildlife Experience
The Lower Zambezi is known for its remarkable diversity of safari experiences, and Lolebezi offers excellent access to both river and land-based wildlife viewing. Elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, wild dogs, and large pods of hippos are regularly encountered, while the river and forests support abundant birdlife throughout the year. The combination of expert guiding, private safari activities, and varied landscapes creates a highly immersive and flexible safari experience.

Accommodation
Lolebezi features six spacious riverfront suites, including family accommodations and an exclusive-use villa, all designed for privacy and uninterrupted views of the Zambezi River. The suites combine indoor and outdoor living with private plunge pools, large viewing decks, open lounges, and elegant bathrooms featuring both indoor and outdoor showers. Contemporary comforts are blended with handcrafted Zambian décor and natural materials throughout the lodge.

Design & Atmosphere
The lodge combines contemporary African architecture with warm textures, local craftsmanship, and open spaces that frame the river and surrounding wilderness. Floor-to-ceiling glass, canvas, wood, and soft natural tones create an atmosphere that feels refined yet relaxed. Despite its sophisticated design, the lodge maintains an intimate safari atmosphere with personalized service and a strong connection to the surrounding environment.

Activities & Experiences
Guests can enjoy morning and evening game drives, night drives, guided walking safaris, canoeing, sunset cruises, birdwatching, and catch-and-release tiger fishing on the Zambezi River. The lodge also offers wellness treatments, private dining experiences, and tailored safari activities designed around guest interests. River safaris are a particular highlight, allowing wildlife encounters from a completely different perspective.

Access
Lolebezi is accessed via a light-aircraft flight from Lusaka to either Jeki or Royal Airstrip, followed by a short transfer to camp. The arrival journey passes over the winding channels and forests of the Lower Zambezi, offering a striking introduction to one of southern Africa’s most scenic safari regions.
