Time + Tide Chinzombo

South Luangwa
Designed by award-winning architects Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, the camp blends contemporary safari elegance with the raw beauty of the bush, combining canvas, timber, leather, and natural materials in a setting that feels both sophisticated and deeply connected to nature.

Location & Landscape
TIME + TIDE CHINZOMBO is set on a quiet curve of the Luangwa River in South Luangwa National Park, surrounded by towering msikizi trees, open floodplains, and rich riverine forest. The camp overlooks one of the park’s most wildlife-rich regions, where the shifting river and seasonal lagoons shape a landscape that feels both intimate and wild.

Wildlife Experience
South Luangwa is considered one of Africa’s finest safari destinations, and Chinzombo offers exceptional game viewing throughout the year. Leopards are particularly well known in the area, while elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffe, hippos, crocodiles, and large concentrations of antelope are regularly seen during drives and walks. The combination of expert guiding and varied habitats creates a rewarding and highly immersive safari experience.

Accommodation
The camp features six spacious luxury villas, including a two-bedroom family villa, all positioned privately along the riverbank. Each villa combines indoor and outdoor living with large open decks, private plunge pools, soaking bathtubs, and expansive views across the Luangwa River. The atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, designed to create a strong connection to the surrounding wilderness.

Design & Atmosphere
Chinzombo blends contemporary safari design with natural materials such as canvas, timber, leather, and stone. The architecture feels elegant without losing the warmth and authenticity of a traditional safari camp. Open spaces, soft natural tones, and river-facing lounges create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere that remains deeply connected to the bush around it.

Activities & Experiences
Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, and guided walking safaris led by some of Zambia’s most experienced guides. Seasonal boating safaris, wildlife photography, birdwatching, bush dinners, and cultural visits further enrich the experience. Evenings often end around the firepit overlooking the river as hippos and elephants move quietly through the darkness nearby.

Access
Chinzombo is accessed via a short light-aircraft flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe Airport, followed by a scenic road transfer and boat crossing into the national park. The journey itself becomes part of the safari experience, gradually transitioning from village landscapes into the remote wilderness of the Luangwa Valley.
