Viceroy Bali occupies a secluded ridge above the Petanu River gorge in Ubud’s lush Valley of the Kings. Dense jungle, swaying palms, tropical gardens, and steep valley walls create dramatic views from across the property. Although the resort feels peaceful and removed, central Ubud and its temples, galleries, markets, and restaurants are approximately 15 minutes away.
Wildlife Experience
While not a wildlife resort, Viceroy Bali provides access to Ubud’s tropical environment and abundant birdlife. Nearby Petulu village is known for thousands of white herons that return to roost each evening. Guided walks and cycling tours through rice fields, villages, and forested valleys offer further opportunities to experience Bali’s natural landscape and rural life.

The family-owned resort features 40 spacious villas in six categories, each with a private heated pool and valley views. Options range from intimate Pool Suites and Terrace Villas to expansive one- and two-bedroom residences. Villas include generous indoor and outdoor living areas, marble bathrooms, private terraces, and traditional Balinese pavilions, with selected categories offering large gardens and 15-meter pools.
Design & Atmosphere
Viceroy Bali blends traditional Balinese architecture with clean contemporary lines. Thatched alang-alang roofs, carved timber, local artwork, open-air spaces, and shaded balés complement polished marble and modern comforts. The intimate scale, family ownership, and discreet service create a highly personal atmosphere, while uninterrupted views across the valley provide a strong sense of privacy and tranquility.
Activities & Experiences
Guests can enjoy yoga, Balinese cooking classes, rice-paddy walks, village cycling, traditional dance and offering lessons, and treatments at Akoya Spa. Excursions include Ubud’s temples, galleries, markets, and artisan workshops, along with visits to Tegallalang, Petulu village, Mount Batur, and nearby archaeological sites. The resort also features a gym, squash court, infinity pool, fine dining at Apéritif, and an onsite helipad for scenic flights.
Access
Viceroy Bali is reached by private road transfer from Ngurah Rai International Airport, generally taking 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Central Ubud is approximately 15 minutes away, with complimentary scheduled transfers available for resort guests. Helicopter transfers may also be arranged directly to the property’s private helipad.
